How a draw is made
No one at MatkaVerse — including us — chooses or can influence a result. Each result is a pure function of public randomness that did not exist when the draw was committed.
1. Fixed public schedule
A draw happens every 10 minutes. Draw n is scheduled at genesis + n × 10 min. Predictions lock 60 seconds before the scheduled time. Upcoming draws are written to the database ahead of time, each with its commitment.
2. Beacon round is fixed in advance
Randomness comes from the drand League of Entropy quicknet network — a threshold network run by independent organisations (Cloudflare, Protocol Labs, universities and others). No single member can predict or bias a value. A new value is produced every 3 seconds. Each draw uses the first round at or after its scheduled time:
round = ceil((scheduledAt − 1692803367) / 3) + 1
3. Commitment
Before the round exists we publish:
SHA-256("matkaverse|v1|draw:n|at:ISO|chain:52db9ba7…|round:r")
This binds the draw to one specific future beacon and one version of these rules. Changing either would change the hash.
4. Sealing
- We fetch round
rand verify its BLS signature against the network public key. - We confirm
randomness = SHA-256(signature). seed = SHA-256("matkaverse:v1:n:randomness")- Seed bytes are read in order; any byte ≥ 250 is skipped (rejection sampling) and the rest map to
byte mod 10. The first three accepted digits form the panna. If a hash runs out, we re-hashseed:counter. ank = (d1 + d2 + d3) mod 10
Skipping bytes ≥ 250 removes modulo bias: 250 is an exact multiple of 10, so each digit has probability exactly 1/10.
5. Scoring
- +1 point for every sealed draw you predicted
- +10 points for the correct ank
- +100 points for the exact panna
Points have no cash value and cannot be bought, sold, or redeemed.
6. Honest notes
- If our scheduler is idle, a draw can be recorded after its beacon round already exists. Its outcome is still fixed by the public formula above, and the verifier shows whether the commitment was recorded before or after the reveal.
- Rules are versioned. Any change ships as a new version and never applies retroactively.
